Subject: Fw: Intermittent Wipers? and jumpseat install

1. Intermittent wipers/relay
I checked my Westy and found that I already have a #19 relay in position 4
(bottom row, 4th relay location from left). So I should ahve intermittent wipers????
I also have a relay #72 in the next location (5th from left) which the Bentley suggests
is for the rear wipers (I forgot to mention that I have a rear intermittent wiper that works fine).
SO, it seems that it's just the stalk that I need to modify (remove the blocking piece
inside the steering column)?? Well I needed to grease the horn ring to eliminate metal
scraping on metal & avoid 'Little Miss Sunshine' syndrome anyway, so I'll take a look
when I have the steering wheel off.
2. Rear facing jump seat install
Following Chris' advice, I just spent > 2 hours searching the archives. There are certainly
a lot of references to jump seats, but finding a real reference to the install is like
finding a needle in a haystack...
Best I can come up with is to install brass cups in the floor (cut holes in the wood Westy
subfloor), or weld/bolt in the real brackets from a donor van. I'm not convinced that the brass
cups would be strong enough in the event of an accident so I prefer to go the second approach.
If anyone has a pair of the floor brackets (from a junkyard van?), that would be great.
Thanks,
Mike

On our Vanagons, Golfs and Jettas, the intermittent position is a downward
movement of the stalk.
