Don, Regarding your comment re cross-wind problems: I don't dare start another tire thread here - the subject's been covered too many times. But ... you should make absolutely certain that you have the proper tires mounted (with correct inflation). Do some browsing in the archives, if you aren't sure what that means. Tires will make a huge difference to sensitivity to cross winds with these vehicles. I enjoyed your observations. US-395 is one of my favorites. My Vanagon probably has the route memorized, it's been over it so many times. Hope you stopped to buy some beef/venison jerky in Bishop.
