Okay, I know this isn't the tiico group, but bear with me here, its an 88 vanagon camper.

The WurstFalia had a tiico engine put in a year ago. Since the engine went in the stick shift had a slight rattle. Over the last 6 months it pops out of 4th gear at 65-70 mph (after an hour of highway speed or so) unless I keep a hand on the stick. Engine revs like crazy, clutch in and it goes back into gear and runs again. Mechanic tightened the linkage between stick and transmission but that has not solved the problem.

Do I need a new transmission, a rebuilt transmission, a new Vanagon.... ?

If I have to get the transmission rebuilt can I increase the 4th gear so it runs at highway speeds at lower revs?

I see tiico sell a 5 speed transmission, but it costs major bucks... Any other options?

Thomas

WurstFalia 88 vanagon.
