I assume by Temp II sensor, you are speaking of the cylinder head temperature sensor in the aircooled engine. Do Watercoolers have one?

I've never known this piece to be in a state of failing, they are either working, or broken. When broken, the engine won't start, and if they break (or fall out) while the vehicle is running, one notices instant rough running, lack of power, and eventual stalling out.

If you want to test it out, get a multimeter and measure the resistance of the sensor at various temperatures. a.. 14F, 7,000 - 11,600 Ohm a.. 68F, 2100 - 2900 Ohm a.. 176F, 270 - 390 Ohm

The sensor is just a thermistor, a resistor that changes resistance at various temperatures.

Hope that helps. I've been through the hassle of this one before. If you do find it to be the problem, it's a heck of a job to get the old one out and the new in.

Best, Greg. 82 Westy
