"They are a real band, not a bunch of vanagonauts!"

Joy, you say that as though 'Vanagonaut' and 'musician'were mutually exclusive, which just ain't true. Lots of bluegrass players out here love Vanagons for their adaptability and great interior space.

Note to DB Players:

Smaller 3/4 size double basses will fit on top of the driver's side cabinets. Remove the rear table and put it up there on the treble side with the back against the wall and the scroll behing the driver's head.

Weekenders are better. I cut a speaker hole into the front of the closet so that the scroll and some of the neck disappears into the closet, then the shoulder of the bass rests on a pillow on the back seat and I bungie the body to the wall.

And these days I bungie my guitar in its foam case to the ceiling in front of the top crossbar, leaving more room for the banjo and mandolin players and their gear.

And you can actually rehearse that four piece bluegrass band indoors with the top up!
