Rob,

Joel hit it on the head about "The Milepost" publication. I might add you should carry an extra spare tire. Though many are paved in Alaska, and most of the Alaska Highway is paved, the roads are nothing like the the roads in the "Lower 48". So be prepared. I have blown out 6 tires between Dawson Creek and Anchorage, when making that drive. It's not that bad today, but again, be prepared.

Also, when you reach Anchorage, look up Mountain View Sporting Goods. Buy yourelf a can or two of "Buhach" - the original bug repellant of all time. The stuff is made from pure chrysanthyemums - read pyrethrins - and WILL keep the bugs out of the tent and the camper.Just follow the instructions on the can. A little goes a long way. And besides that, the store is an interesting place just to visit.

Enjoy.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
