I use one of those clear collapsible water jug thingyies and I put a longer hose on the (usually red) nipple (of the 'on' 'off' screw top) and then place the water jug on the counter top and let it drain into the top of the water reservoir. No fuss, no muss.

I also try not to lug water from one campsite to the next, so I try to have just enough water in the reservoir to do lunch dishes for the day. Malcolm
