I think you guys are nuts. At home before a trip I drain and then FILL the tank at a store with one of those purified water machines outside. I have 2 reusable 2 gallon water bottles I purchased years ago for just this purpose. For about $3 I have a full tank of water that I trust. I could use the hose water at home but it is not that tasty in my town.

When I am on the trip and the tank is getting low, I look for a market with a similar water machine when I need groceries anyway. Then I buy a 1 gallon plastic jug of water along with my other purchases. I dig my funnel out, put it in the tank filler fitting on the Westy and pour the gallon in. Then I take the bottle back and forth from the machine until the tank is full. $2 or $3 and good for another 5 days or so.

On a 2 week trip we might drive 1500 miles and use $200-300 in fuel. Like amounts in camp fees, and like amounts in meal costs. So $600-900 overall and less than $10 for clean good tasting water.
