Gentlemen, thank you for your responses.

So, if air is in the system, it won't come out the bottom "bleeder" screw. Of course! Air floats up!

;^)

I wasn't certain of twin piston anatomy so didn't know if air would get trapped in there.

I should get a parts van. That I could view them and learn while stripping parts I found it interesting to strip some more stuff off a spare AC 2.0 I have. (made moving it a little easier too) Anyway......

So I'm learning that my technique is a little incorrect and helper or a PB is the way to go.

For others brake newbies; the vaccum bleeder system didn't work for me. A waste of money. (except I understand I can check vaccum lines with it) I agree. It was inefficient, in part, due to air coming in at bleeder screw threads even with screw less than 1/2 turn open.

Just my .02 I have read that others have used succesfully.

If I make a PB (couldn't fine Motiv type locally last time I looked) hopefully I can find a used reservoir cap or something new at the FLAPS.

I understand a "Help!" late model GM cap can be used.

Anyone used this or found an inexpensive reservoir cap that'll fit a Vanagon?

Neil.
