Subject: Re: window tinting - question!
Comments: To: mad madeline <mac10wv@YAHOO.COM>

I have tinted windows in my Westy. I had this done when I was in CA, and there it is illegal to tint the drivers' and passenger's windows (makes the law enforcement officers nervious) So my front windows are not tinted.

The sliding windows are tinted but the film does not pass the overlap so that it will not peel with multiple openings of the window. If anyone is curious I can take a photo.

One thing I did learn is to make sure you get tint that has metalic particles for the tint. The cheap-o tints tend to color shift over time (Ever see a car with purple tinted windows - usually with multiple bubbles in the film as well)

The cool thing about the tint on my windows is that it definately is similar to one-way glass. I can see out just fine, but if you were standing outside, it would be difficult to see inside the van. It also makes a difference in reducing the load on the A/C in the summer.

The downside is that you do loose some of that "open" feeling that you get with untinted windows.
