Joy, A suggestion: if you usually don't use the upper bed, take it out .. unsnap the cushions. Put some removeable wood (pine) 4"-5" high partition structure up there and use that space to stowe whatever you may have wanted to stow in the cupboard you were making by the AC removal. It's realy easy to take the partition out and put the cusions back in if you need the bed for some reason. Jerry in AZ did this and uses it for his clothing storage IIRC. I've been considering doing it but really do like sleeping up there warm summer nights with the 3-window canvas open ..... ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, camping 'n sleepin' in cozy climes.
