Hoo boy, if you ever visited Zion BEFORE they did the shuttle system, you know how much MORE that sucked. I remember waiting in a traffic jam going up-canyon in the sweltering june heat in my dad's red and white loaf bus (no AC, of course!). We finally got up to the Narrows parking lot at the end and had to sit with our feet in the river for 20 minutes just to cool off enough to hike the trail. And the smell of exhaust... blarf. Do the "Angels Landing" hike, very cool..!
Always my favorite. I'm usually on the first morning shuttle and hiking up in the pre-dawn dark. Much cooler, and much more like actually being in nature. After sun-up the trail starts filling with people.
