Kill switches are great to discourage joy riders, but if someone wants your car it (or anything else, really) won't even slow them down. Case in point: several years ago a friend's Acura disappeared from his companies parking lot. Alarm, club, and all. Turns out, the perps removed it with a rollback. No one even blinked, even though they watched it. This was in Raleigh NC and the cops never found his car. Lesson learned: don't stress and drive an ugly van. Oh - my immobilizer? A difficult 2nd gear. Unless you know where it's hiding, you'll never find it. john
> Automotive immobilizers are VERY easy to implement. A hidden kill > switch on the fuel pump is all that is needed to accomplish the same > result as a smart key, and the cost of materials is less than $10. |
