A guy I know at work glued a reed switch and a small steel plate side by side behind the plastic of the steering column in his Chevy work van. The reed switch triggers a relay which enables the starter circuit. He has a small neodymium magnet on his key chain that sticks to the steel plate and triggers the reed switch. There's nothing to indicate that a magnet would even stick to this random spot, much less that you'd need one stuck there to start the car! -- John Bange '90 Vanagon - "Geldsauger" |
