Actually it's 10.6 imp = 12.73 USG

However, starting in middle america and driving that tank of water up to visit Mark in Alaska, in the depths of winter, the water will freeze and thereby expand, either forcing the cap off or stretching the plastic container to 13.2 gals occupied space. Alternatively, heading south to Baja, the rise in temp will also cause the required 3.69% expansion in volume.

See how wise those clever German engineer types were.
