Anybody want to comment on this statement: "Avoid any type of "system
cleaners".  These just cause problems."
I've often wondered if these products don't tend to loosen internal engine
scale just to have it clog up the radiator, and I've also wondered how they
affect the pump bearings.

That page is pretty well done; it'd be nice to have something like that for
procedures on the Vanagon- I suppose that's what Benny is ultimately trying
to do, eh?
