By the way... I just found out that it is a Gear Reduction IMI-101
This was sent as a warranty replacement (For the 91 Westy our friends just
purchased this winter), and I wasn't aware of the difference in starters
until I did a little research on-line today.

So... what needs to be done to modify the wiring to accommodate this
starter?

Subject: Starter Wires 91 Automatic

I am in the middle of replacing a Starter on a 91 Vanagon - Automatic -
Westy.



The starter I removed has two clip on spade wires, one thick red, one thin
yellow.



The replacement starter only has one spade terminal, what do I do with the
other wire?



Also, strange thing, when I removed the wires and let them dangle down, red
oil - maybe PS or Trans fluid, dripped out of the protective sleeve the
wires are in.



Any advice is greatly appreciated!
