One person doesn't make that much of a mess. But multiply what one person does by 100 million (or more) and you end up with quite a bit of a mess.

You Canadians don't have the population density that is common in the NorthEast US (or much of Europe and Japan.) You have the 2nd largest country (by area), but only a fraction of the population (32 million). Heck, California has more people than you.
