Great photos Edward. My tach needle was hanging up around 1-2 K, so I took the cluster out and the tab that supports the foil under the 14 pin connector just broke off. Also the bottom of the tach's back plate was in five or so pieces. I assume that the lack of rigidity was causing binding in the tach mechanism.

Your photo, 04.htm, shows the good news - that the backing piece (with the connector tab) can be repaired or replaced without a whole lot of trouble. I had a spare tach and swapped the piece out. Needle now works fine.
