I'd have to agree with that. Muir's "Idiot Guide" is an excellent book, great reading, and an absolute must for any air-cooled VW owner. If you own, want to own, or wish you owned an aircooled VW, you should absolutely read the book cover to cover (which isn't hard, as it's fun to read - something that can't be said of many repair manuals). But it doesn't cover the watercooled Vanagon at all. If you have an aircooled Vanagon the engine sections apply, as it's the same engine found in a late model Bus, but very little can be applied to watercooled Vanagons. It's a shame Muir died before the Vanagon came out. It would have been great if he could have applied his considerable abilities to writing a Vanagon manual.
