Ok, I must for forgiveness in advance here, but I was generally under the impression that the lifters in a Vanagon were hydraulic, and self adjusting. So I am puzzled as to the nature of this repair. I mostly ask because I have an '80 Westy, and if there is something else I need to be watching out for, I want know now, rather than when something breaks.

Thanks for the info.
