Hi Gregor,

It did'nt take but a few reply posts for you to realize comments about your wife unfortunately hijack your thread into a off-topic direction.

I'll try to give you the technical troubleshooting info you came here for.

This symptom usually is assumed to be a fuel delivery issue.

However, it sounds a lot like an AFM(air flow metre) problem or the Hall system (control or sender).

Dying and restarting immediately sound just like the AFM syndrome symptom.

Try switching to a different AFM. If that solves it, you can have a capacitor intalled which will help prevent this condition form occuring again.

There is also a factory harness that patches to the AFM that has a capacitor.

Your Vanagon Digifant system has a sender in the distributor that can go bad, and the wires leading to it.

Before looking at these possible problems, a good inspection of the wiring and the battery and engine grounds.
