ok, so i'm keeping this spreadsheet of all the vanagon vins i run across in daily life and/or the internet want/sales ads. and i'm looking at the lowest vin and the highest vin i've got for each year. and it's a bit peculiar. this is for the 1986-1992 buses only (right now. haven't done the hi/lo thing for the other years yet): it seems that the lowest vin is 000200. why start with 200? start up? the first 200 are 'experiments' to make sure the production line works? the highest vin for the u.s. i've got is just over 129000. except for one that is over 648000. and i think that's a mistake, cause the next highest one under it is 124000. so ... my questions/request for info: 1. does anybody have a vin on their bus LOWER than 000200? for any year. 2. does anybody have a vin on their bus HIGHER than 129235?? for any year. not just for the US, but worldwide. please respond off-list if you like, and your vin info will be kept secret (well ... between me and the spreadsheet). :) thanks!! unca joel |
