The last (& only) time I had to change one I asked at the dealer when I picked the new bearing up, the mech I talked to said he cut them out. I used a dremil tool and it all went well. That was maybe 15 years ago and cutting the pilot bearing OUT of the crank with the engine still assembled made a lasting impression on me.
