Hi Shawn,
I hope, we are talking about the same thing.
This is a diesel.
There are two dipsticks.
There is about one gallon difference between the two.
If the stick in the fill tube is correct, there is no oil showing on the
original one, on the engine.
If I fill to the original stick, the oil is way high on the fill tube stick.
My instinct says use the factory dipstick, but it is scary to know, that I
put in almost two gallons of oil.
Maybe, because the engine is slanted more than in the Golf, it should be
ignored and only the fill tube must be considered.
I don't want to have a seal blown.
I hope, one will chime in with full info.
