I'm not sure i understand your question Kevin!

What do you mean by "Seal at the top of pistons"?

In that picture: http://www.benplace.com/amc_head/amc9.jpg

You see everything that goes there, at top of piston, there is nothing, but on the head side (well, it will end up in between the top of pistons and the head), you have a metal o-ring head gasket. The Wasser engine as 2 separate gasket, the inner metal one that sealed the compression and the outter big black rubber one that sealed the coolant from going out of the engine. http://www.benplace.com/amc_head/amc8.jpg

Maybe, what you mean is that o-ring on top-side of the sleeve: http://www.benplace.com/bjp_head2/100_0043.jpg

This one stop the coolant from going into the combustion chamber.

There is also another one at the lower part of that sleeve: http://www.benplace.com/bjp_head2/100_0042.jpg

If there is no crack on heads and if it's properly seal, your overheating problems comme from elsewhere.

I hope that help.

Ben
