for what it's worth, the 1968-1979 bus vins just bounce all over the place, from year to year. like they were just sent over whenever someone felt they needed to send some.

the eurovans are also kinda messed up like that ... no pattern at all.

plus a LOT of the 1968-1979 sales ads don't bother to put the serial number/vin ... i'm lucky if i find three numbers out of ten ads. :( the older splitties are even worse.

i have slightly over a thousand breadloafs, and half that number for the splits. and about another thousand eurovans. the 86-91 buses are the most common, it seems ... i've got over 2200 of them. only about 1300 of the 80-85 buses.

the only patterns that seem to be emerging are the colors ... makes sense. paint a batch of buses the same color so you don't have to change the paint in the spray booths. and the campers ... it seems they sent batches of buses to the westfalia folks for conversion. just how big the color or westfalia batches are, i can't say yet. the longest sequence i have is four buses in a row. not quite enough for a conclusion at this point. ;)

thanks again. unca joel
