hey all i am in the process of replacing the coolant pipes on my 84 westy 1.9 with the stainless steel two piece from bus depot. The previous owner had used some home depot red line pvc(yes, you read that correctly) to replace the oe, and i have a few questions:

what the heck was the po thinking?(still a question i ask myself, but no answer needed from the list)

where should the steel pipes pass over the gas tank, through the small opening on the passenger side, where the pvc and the heater hoses were, or through the middle near the front shift rod? the latter is easier to feed, but the passenger side opening makes more sense, but is a mother to get both in.

if you have purchased the ss replacements from BD, you know a sticker on each piece has an arrow and either the german word for "forward" or "return". that makes sense so i know which two go together, and which pipe connects to which hoses, but it seems that the halves need to have the arrows face each other so the hose coupling connects the pairs in a straight shot. should both arrows point in the same direction as the forweard or return flow goes? or are they pointing to the coupling?

finally, i am in a septic system area...what do you do with the spent coolant to ensure eco friendly disposal...i called my local town hall and they had no clue!

any info would be most appreciated to any of the above questions.

my head hurts...i need a porter.
