Hi,


My '89 Vanagon Camper has this problem. There's an intermittent, LOUD
squeal
coming from the speedometer/cable connection. I've had a new cable
installed but the sound still happens.


Seems to be more frequent during warm/dry weather. Of course when I
take it in to the shop,
the sound is absent......... So I've made a couple recordings posted
here:

My mechanic suggested I spray WD40 down the inside of the cable, but
I've read a cautionary
note somewhere about doing this.....


I thought someone out there might recognize these sounds, and have a
suggestion or two.......
