Subject: Lotta Syncros FS..

I was cruising around on The Samba, looking (half-heartedly) for a project van donor and it struck me that there are certainly lots of Syncros listed right now. Some have been there for months..I recall seeing some of the same, listed before this new year..Do you suppose that the would-be sellers are asking more than the potential buyers are willing to give?

Another factoid that struck me, as a media commentator (the Vanagon List is media, right?) is that Northwest Vanagons seem about the most high priced..generally. Do you suppose it has to do with how the freeways in Seattle and Portland are virtual campgrounds, so Westys work well here?

After just visiting So. Cal. I can see how they are slightly less popular there...No "intimidation factor" like a Humvee or a lifted truck, or a full sized SUV..Not quick enough to 'get ahead' in the aggressive driving that is the norm around LA/SD/Tijuana. The few times I was briefly out of grid lock on this trip through LA county, the rest of the drivers became europhoric (except for the right two lanes, which were bumper to bumper trucks always) and punched it up to the 90s and 100s whenever they saw clear road ahead...Guess that puts us Vanagon drivers over to the right with the Semis, and makes them sell cheaply in the southland..

I guess the East Coast, road salt and rust plays into it.

Just rambling, Sunday morn. Don Hanson
