Although I drive an 81 Westfalia, I have learned that the blue wire comes up to connection at instrument cluster, then goes through to another connector under dash, then to Aux. Battery area.

There appear to be 2 wiring diagrams for an 86 w/digifant. From what I can see, wire from D+ of alt goes to T2j which is a two connector "under instrument panel left". Check there. Bue wire also goes to inst cluster at alt. warning light. I imagine that is part of a multi connector.

One electrical problem I had was that mutlt connector on PS of inst. cluster wasn't seated right. Alt. warning light, blinkers etc. weren't working and there was no power coming through blue wire to aux. battery relay as a result.

Check 2 connector "under instrument panel left" and multi connector at inst cluster.
