mike,
haynes has a great DIY body repair guide. it only costs maybe $15 and
explains everything from very minor scrathes and dings all the way to full
restos. i got my start in body work with this book and still refer to it
from time to time. it is a little out dated ad far as new products and what
not, but the techniques are gold. i have now completely restored and painted
in my garage a 70 ghia and 71 westy. patience and persistence...
