There was some discussion of this on the list a couple of years ago. I found a vendor that suggested using 2 different lifts for the best combination of ease of closing and holding power/durability. I have been very satisfied with this solution/choice of lifts. I strongly recommend avoiding the brands that are sold for a much cheaper price at your local nation-wide FLAPS. They have a very short lifespan and no warranty-Bonk! I lubricate both ends and check for leaks. If I can locate a model or brand for mine I will post it for the list. I have been very satisfied with my lifts. David Clarkson 90 Westy (238k)

Anyone have suggestion on gas tubes that should hold rear door up. They don't seem to survive cold winters. Are there preferred quality/types/brands recommended for replacement? Care of future units?
