Hello, I am trying to swap a cluster with the tach from a 1985 van into my 1982 air cooled westy. I am following the instruction graciously provided by Jim Thompson from Old Volks Home (http://www.oldvolkshome.com/late_van_cluster_install.pdf). I am having two problems. First, when I turn on the lights the tack drops to zero. The PDF suggests this problem is linked to a bad ground on the #3 pin. I have wired a fresh new ground to this pin and the problem persists. Any ideas? Second problem is that the coolant temp light stays illuminated. Pin #6 provides the signal from the temp sensor, but this pin is now empty in my air cooled van. Is there a way to get that light to go out? Maybe run a ground to #6? Thanks, Jake |
