Mike, I did say it may be just a fantasy of mine and I asked whoever is willing to give it a try to report back if I am wrong.

If you were indeed reasonably diplomatic you would not have called anyone who tried to rebuild his engine the very first time NOT reasonably conscious.

When I first started the newly rebuilt engine I was busy combating the lifter noise at the back of the engine. Had I raised my head a few inches highner I would have seen the oil pressure warning light being on. How did you do when you rebuilt your vanagon engine the first time?

I do not need to tell my story on this list to get such diplomatic insult from you. Let's see. Did you give me any advise about the oil weight I asked in the first place? Had I asked for help Could I expect to hear a truly diplomatic advise rather than insult from you. I doubt you would have the knowledge to tell me what the noise was from my engine.

Boy, I only rejoint this list for a few days and it has shown me such hostility. I still remember enjoying Friday poems from JWalker and Gerry in those days when this list was very young. I should have known it is a different beast today.

BTW, I have an 84 that I bought it new. I had done all the work including re-sealing the heads for the past 23 years and never had to turn it to any dealer or any other shops for any problems. It is the 83 that I bought it used that was basically ruined by the dealer that I tried to fix it up. It is very rude of you to suspect that I am not reasonably conscious.

You might have thought I am new to this list. Is this how you welcome new list members?

David
