Since I have two vanagons I once put my 1.9 engine in the back (above the working one) of the other vanagon and drove to a repair shop.

A mechanic came up to welcome me and asked what he could help me. I opened the rear hatch door and the pilot bearing hole was right there pointing to the guy. I said: could you take it out for me?

It took one maybe two minutes and it was free. If it doesn't work out well just drive around to more repair shops. One of them will do it for you.

David
