That's another way to do it. I did this once when I was trying to put a new turn signal switch in my Ch@vy with tilt steering column. The pivot pins for the tilt mechanism had to come out and the tools I tried couldn't do it. Since I had most of the column apart already, I undid two mounting bolts and a pinch bolt and the column was out of the car.

I got a ride and strolled into the service department at the local Ch@vy dealer with the column in my hand. The service writer asked one of the mechanics if he had the tool to pull the pins and the mechanic said yes. The service writer started to write a ticket, but then changed his mind and tore up the ticket. He told me to come back in 15 minutes with two $10 bills. I went and got the money, and when I got back, my column was waiting with the two removed pins taped to it. One of the bills went in the service writer's pocket and the other went in the mechanic's pocket and everybody was happy. (I reinstalled the pins with a big C clamp.)
