Subject: Need a 'z-shape' spring for indicator switch
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ascii

Whilst tinkering around with the indicator switch mechanism and lubing the horn ring, I managed to send the little z-shape spring (that holds parts of the indicator mechanics together) into orbit. Despite searching every possible place about 10 times over, I could not find it (sigh!) - it's probably lost inside the vent systems or on it's way to Mars by now. +++++++++++ Anyhow, does anyone have one (from a junk van etc.) or know the part number or where I can get one?. +++++++++++ For now I've tied the lugs together with a small piece of wire (which seems to work, but doesn't look that permanent).

The good news was that, following advice received from List members from a previous post of mine (it's taken me about a month to get to this little task), I managed to activate the front intermittent wiper function (by removing the little white plastic lug). Since there was already a relay #19 installed, that was all I had to do (why there was already a relay there I've no idea - PO or factory?).

In exchange for the above (or completely separate, let me know if you need them), I have a pair of the contacts that you would need to double up your rear driving lights (as discussed in some posts a few weeks ago). The rear light 'blocks' each have a spare bulb socket that you can put a second bulb in. Unfortunately the sockets do not have the center contact, so you need extra contacts - I have 2 left over from a block I got on ebay to do this mod to my '87 Westy. Now I have 2 x 10W bulbs on each side, a big improvement from the original 1 x 5W bulb. I can explain how I put the contacts in - it took about 30 minutes for the complete job, 2 sides.

Thanks,

Mike '87 Westy '97 Jetta GTX '00 Cabrio (prev: '85 Westy)
