Hola Mags! Just back from Cinco de Mayo time in Central Mexico. Sorry to hear of your plight. The Speedometer and Odometer are two different instruments in the same housing. The odometer is gear coupled to the number wheels and the reset mechanism has a press-on gear that often gang agley.

Since your speedo is not a syncro speedo with it's odd drive ratio, it may be cheaper to buy a known good speedo to replace it. I copied Dan Fleming on this note. He has several for sale.
