yup. had this nagging thought in the back of my demented ol' mind, and finally got around to trying it.

you can make your own vanagon (or bus or whatever) screensaver using your own pictures. or pictures you've stolen/begged/borrowed/misappropriated from elsewhere. :)

what you need is a program called Irfanview. available at www.irfanview.com ... free. i recommend the plugins be downloaded as well.

sorry, macs, i don't think it works on macs ... but it might run on the newer ones. i don't know.

anyway, install the program. and put an icon on the desktop or ever how you like to run things. put your pictures in a convenient folder somewhere easy to find. start the program ... click on File (toolbar) and come down to Slideshow. :) find the convenient folder containing your pictures in the little window "Look in". select the one(s) you want and click "Add" (in the middle). or click "Add all" and it'll go get all of them. now, kinda down in the lower middle, there are some selections to be made ... auto advance (picture) after x seconds? random after x seconds? keep looping after last picture? and so on. to get the pictures to occupy the entire screen, click on Full Screen Options and make the selections in there. be sure to UNclick "Show text" or it will display the path to that picture. when you've got all your options ready, click on "Save as EXE/SCR file" and tell it where to put the screensaver.

then execute/run the screensaver and sit back. :) only thing it doesn't do is all that magic fade-in/fade-out/slices/dices/peels/squeels/and etc between pictures. :(

otherwise, cool beans! ;)

unca joel
