Battery strap ground needs to be cleaned up ON THE BODY. Same under the car that connects the body and the transmission. Replace bolts with stainless if you can. I have an 87 Wolfsburg that has been sitting for about two years. It had "issues" that we just didn't have the time or money to deal with when it was parked. I'm now trying to get it up and going again and not being very successful. Here's what I know: 1987 Vanagaon Wolfsburg edition, stock automatic transmission before unplanned hibernation was running extremely rich put a new battery in it to see if it would crank .... didn't interior lights, beeps, etc., all good, fuel pump kicks on fuel smell in the engine compartment on first attempt and we found a dry-rot fuel line so we replaced that before further attempts When you turn the key to the "on" position, you can hear the fuel pump; when you turn to start, I think I hear a click, interior lights dim slightly (not much, just a little), but nothing. We've tried tapping the starter with no luck. I just need the thing to start ... and I don't need a real "fix". It has other issues that need to be dealt with so a temporary solution would be just fine. Any advice on where to start? Thanks, Tonya
