Patti, 'Pick' the latch with something small enough to fit in the little hole, bent to turn the latch, but strong enough to rotate the little latch assy without breaking or bending back Maybe a large paper clip bent to do the job would work. It only needs to go a small amount to release the lid. Alternately, you can open the entire cover/ lid assy by removing the 2 screws, prying the larger cover open, thenusiing a little screwdriver or something to rotate the latch. The long-term fix is to buy the key, which is sold by Bus Depot. I did.
