After I looked under Cunegonde's hatch (eeek!), I immediately measured the B21F engine and M41 transmission in the '79 240. Then I checked their respective Bosch FI systems, hoping I could adapt some of the technology I know so well to my Westy. Nope. Will not fit unless someone invents a 90 degree plus centering transmission adapter, a way to mount most of the intake tract on the side, and a shallower exhaust manifold - cast iron, not a lot of mod potential. There is also the substantial weight increase problem, not to mention needing a radiator with larger area/flowthrough. I'll have to wait for someone to wreck a VW TDI. However, does anyone know if IPD in Portland OR designs suspension systems for Vanagons? Their Volvo and Subaru work is outstanding.
