Familiar with this scene LOL --- I been towed way too many times. Enough to know that your vanagon should be hooked up from the rear :-)

Personal preference is a flatbed. And at least you had it towed out of your driveway -- so you had a place to stay last night --- and your dog didn't have to ride at a slant in the van --- while you and your wife and teenaged daughter and her best friend crammed into the cab of the tow truck with the tow truck driver --- who moaned incessantly that he was going to get arrested for overloading the truck cab/no seatbelts etc ---- all this at 5 pm on a Friday when every mechanic in town is cleaning their hands and anticipating the first cold beer of the weekend --- "Nah, I don't like to work on them things anyway" --- when you have to be home Monday morning for work and home is 600 miles away -- well you get the idea. BTDT :-)

Cheers, Doug
