The AutoZone here hired a little blue-haired old lady that I would bet was
closer to 80 than 70... I have no idea what that was all about- I know the
manager pretty well and I didn't even wanna ask him. Her customer skills
were great if you had all day but she didn't know hooey about cars. I think
her presence there actually made for a positive service effect on the 'kids'
in a sense, but a couple of times I thought I was gonna be as old as she was
by the time I got out of there. She wasn't there long... again, I didn't ask
but if nothing else I got the feeling that 8 hrs. on her feet was getting to
her.
I once interrupted one of the (much) younger women that work there 'cause I
thought she was making a mistake- turns out she was right. Boy she had her
fun with me I tell ya. It really wasn't a gender thing, I double-check the
dudes all the time (which one of them was... uh, 'kind' enough to comment
on) but she had to dangle me for a bit before she let me off. At least she
always smiles at me know when I come in. : )
Cya,
Robert
