Aha,
Yes, I do have one particular APS that I might be tempted to call my
"FLAPS". They are friendly, they do know me, they are right nearby and I
use them whenever I can...
I have, indeed, worked on the other side of the counter, and yes, the
"general public" is generally pretty rude.
I was thinking about Vanagon List Usage of the abbreviation "FLAPS" and
how it is used as a 'catch-all' phrase for every autoparts place...perhaps I
got it wrong.
My comments were meant to address the attitude you usually see in any
autoparts store almost anywhere...but I guess that wouldn't be *your*
friendly local autoparts store...I was referring to the one you may have to
visit mid-summer afternoon in Fresno, or sleep over in the parking lot,
midwinter in Laramie, Wyoming while you wait for 9am..And then you get a
clerk who doesn't know anything but that his payday is weekly for minimum
wage...
I should be more precise in my reading...before I 'diss' a term...
