Neil,

Honda is not having any premature wear issues with `04 Accord(or any other) rotors that I know of. At that mileage and even the next brake job your rotors should be fine unless they get warped or grooved. I would not mess with anything but OEM pads and rotors on the car as most are not of the same quality and you will not be happy with the results. Did they tell you what the rotor thickness was? We have lots of customers that have 100,000+ miles on their original rotors so I find it hard to believe that yours have worn thin in that short of mileage. Feel free to pmail me with more specifics, thickness, etc, of you like as I have a full shop of Honda & Acura trained technicians at my disposal.

Why would the rotors wear to the point of having to be replaced?? I get the feeling they know something I don't (like orig rotors cheap product) as they quoted me around $300 for pads/hardware/rotors installed. Rotors were $93 ea., so that plus pads etc. AND labour maybe should be higher? (I'm not argueing!) Should I specify a different type of pad next time? Sorry for attempting to avail myself upon the help of Vanagon people, but this has me puzzled.> > -- > Neil Nicholson. 1981 Air Cooled Westfalia. > > http://web.mac.com/tubaneil >
