Is there also a "chunk" sound and hard to move shift lever into first/reverse? If so, is it limited to only these symptoms? If so, I'd look toward clutch hyd. not working properly, or worn clutch.

Is it only a bounce/shudder when already in 1st/rev., and clutch pedal coming up and engaging?

If clutch shudders/bounces when engaging, and all mounts, external mech that operate clutch, and clutch hyd. are ok, then I'd look towards oil on flywheel and/or clutch plate.

Two places oil can come from are ear engine seal or seal at input shaft on tranny.

When work done on tranny bearing failure, was pilot bearing replaced? What else was replaced at that time?

Neil.
