Bed liner or body undercoating will protect the tank much better than spray paint. I did the tank on my 84 and it looked like new when I finished. Over ten years later it still looked good. Really keeps the sand and rocks from chipping the finish away. Usually LP tanks need to be white to reflect sunlight to keep it cool, but since it's underneath, no worries about that.
