It just lays it over the track that is there and weld it in a few places. It should feel to you like it fits very well that way. I drilled holes and put a few screws in, but it probably isn't as strong. It will raise your seat a half inch, but that should not be an issue. They say the Westy seats are slightly lower profile to account for the difference in height. If you want to PMail me a photo I can make sure you are doing the same thing I did.
